The petitioners undertake to affirm and stamp the petition as per the Rules within one week of resumption of normal functioning of the court. The petition is taken up through video conference on the basis of such undertaking.

The petitioners claim to have been framed in a matter pertaining to some persons being deceived in the name of gold being sold to them. The petitioners make out an elaborate account of how the petitioners may have been roped in.

The State produces the case records and says that the petitioners were the principal masterminds in cheating the complainants. The State says that the investigation has progressed substantially but the petitioners' version has to be obtained to tie the loose ends. It appears that the petitioners may have removed themselves from the scene altogether.

So as not to prejudice the further process, nothing more is said.

Considering the material produced and the possible involvement of the petitioners in the commission of the offence, it is imperative that the petitioners be detained and questioned.

The prayer for anticipatory bail is declined. CRM 6631 of 2020 and CRAN 1 of 2020 therein are disposed of. (Sanjib Banerjee, J.) (Arijit Banerjee, J.)
