The petitioner undertakes to affirm and stamp the petition as per the Rules within 48 hours of resumption of normal functioning of the court. The petition is taken up through video conference on the basis of such undertaking. Though the cause-title does not refer to Section 302 of the Penal Code, this is a petition in a murder case. The anticipatory bail sought by the petitioner was declined by this court in May, 2020. The State refers to the statement of the victim's wife recorded under Section 164 of the Code. The statement clearly refers to these petitioners along with two others and describes how the victim was beaten to death.

Considering the possible role of these petitioners in the commission of the offence, the prayer for bail is refused. CRM 6796 of 2020 and CRAN 1 of 2020 are disposed of. ( Sanjib Banerjee, J. ) ( Aniruddha Roy, J. )
