The issue relates to admission in the Post Graduate Medical Education Course 2020. The writ petition was filed on 25th September, 2020.

The learned advocate representing the National Medical Commission and the West Bengal University of Health Sciences unanimously submits that the classes in respect of the said course had started long ago. In terms of the order dated 30th July, 2020 passed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in M. A. No. 1282 of 2020 in Writ Petition (c) No. 76 of 2015 (Ashish Ranjan & Ors. - Vs - Union of India & Ors.) the last date for admission in the said course has been extended from 31st July, 2020 to 31st August, 2020. The same is also reflected from the order of the Supreme Court dated 30th July, 2020 in the matter of Telengana

Private Medical and Dental Colleges Management Association & Anr. - vs - Union of India & Ors. annexed at page 72 of the writ petition wherein it has been specifically mentioned that the cut-off date of admission for the present year (2020) was 31st August, 2020.

The last date for admission of the course in reference being long over no useful purpose will be served by keeping the writ petition pending.

The writ petition has become infructuous due to efflux of time and the same stands dismissed. CAN 1 of 2020 is disposed of accordingly.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties on completion of usual formalities.
