Petitioners Mr. Sandipan Ganguly, Sr. Adv., Mr. Dipanjan Dutt, Mr. Sauvik Dera .... for the Petitioners Mr. Swapan Banerjee, Ms. Purnima Ghosh ...for the State. The advocate-on-record for the petitioners undertake to affirm and properly stamp the petition as per the rules within forty eight hours of resumption of normal functioning of the court. The petition is taken up through video conference on the basis of such undertaking. The gravity of the offence is highlighted by learned counsel for the State in the following manner. The persons from whom fake currency notes were seized on 27th February, 2020 and those from whom genuine currency notes were found are part of a terrorist group in Nagaland and Manipur Border who escaped into this State. The genuine currency notes were the result of extortion. Various serious charges are pending against them. Charge-sheet was submitted on 27th May, 2020 and on the
prayer of the investigating officer made on 29th June, 2020 supplementary charges were submitted on 24th August, 2020. In those circumstances, we are not entertaining this application for bail. However, we direct that the charge be framed immediately and the trial concluded by 30th June, 2021. After framing of charge, the petitioners will be at liberty to apply afresh for bail in this Court or the court below.
CRM 7403 of 2020 and the interim application filed therein are disposed of.
