This is an application seeking expeditious disposal of a Sessions trial under Sections 417, 376, 506 and 120B of the Penal Code. Despite service, no one appears on behalf of the de facto complainant/opposite party no.2.

Learned Counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner is an accused in the present case. He is an employee of the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited. During trial, the prosecution has applied for closing of evidence. The petitioner has also prayed for discharge. Both the petitions are still pending. In the interest of justice, the applications filed by the State and on behalf of the petitioner as referred to above may be disposed of as expeditiously as possible. Learned Counsel appearing on behalf of the State, in his usual fairness, submits that it will be in the interest of justice that the two applications are disposed of at the earliest. I have heard the submissions of the learned Advocates appearing on behalf of the petitioner and the State and have perused the revision petition.

No prejudice will be caused to anyone if a direction is passed for an expeditious disposal of the proceeding and the two applications filed in

the said proceeding.

In view of the above and in the interest of justice, I request the learned Trial Court to conclude the proceeding as expeditiously as possible and dispose of the applications filed on behalf of the State as well as on behalf of the petitioner as referred to above at the earliest without granting any unnecessary adjournment to any of the parties. With the above observations, the revisional application is disposed of.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order may be supplied to the parties expeditiously, if applied for.
