Petitioner seeks commercial meter connection. Learned advocate for the Distribution Company submits that, the plot of land on which, the petitioner seeks electricity connection, is a water body. The petitioner ought to submit the permission for conversion.

Learned advocate for the petitioner refers to the Record of Rights at page 15 of the writ petition. He submits that, plot no. 1536 is recorded as 'shali' land, which means agricultural.

A person in settled possession is entitled to electric supply.

In such circumstances, the Distribution Company will proceed to supply electricity through a commercial meter to the petitioner, as prayed for, within six weeks from the

date the petitioner complies with all formalities and pays all costs, charges and expenses thereto. The Distribution Company in effecting electricity supply, as directed by this order, will not insist upon the conversion of the records of rights. It is, however, open to the Distribution Company to bring to the attention to any relevant authority that the plot in question is a water body, if that be so.

WPA No. 7987 of 2020 is disposed of without any order as to costs.
