The petitioner undertakes to affirm and stamp the petition/application as per Rules within 48 hours of resumption of normal functioning of the Court. Subject to such undertaking, the application is taken up for hearing through video conference. Learned Counsel for the petitioner has prayed for bail due to long detention of the petitioner who was arrested on 5th April, 2019.

Learned Counsel for the State opposes the prayer for bail and submits that 4.5 Kgs of codeine mixture was recovered from the joint possession of the petitioner and two accused persons. It is submitted that the chemical examination report was received on 13th October, 2020 and supplementary charge-sheet has already been filed on 15th October, 2020.

In view of the aforesaid fact we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. However, we direct the trial court to take immediate steps for consideration of charges at the earliest and in the event charge is framed to take proceeding to its logical

conclusion without granting unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties preferably within a period of six months from the date of framing of the charges, if any.
