Affidavit of service filed in Court be kept on record. Leave is granted to the learned advocate-on-record of the petitioner to incorporate the Commissioner, Panchayat & Rural Development Department as a party respondent in the instant writ petition. As the State respondents are already represented by the learned advocate no copy of the writ petition is required to be served upon the added respondent. The Commissioner is being represented by the learned advocate appearing for the State respondents.

The petitioner prays for compassionate appointment. The case of the petitioner was considered by the Three Men Committee at the Amta Development Block, Howrah and on enquiry the Committee was of the opinion that the prayer of the petitioner for service on compassionate ground may be considered favourably

and she may be employed under the Gram Panchayat Bodies anywhere as per the existing vacancies. The learned advocate representing the State respondents submits, upon instruction, that the application of the petitioner was forwarded by the District Panchayat & Rural Development Officer, Howrah to the Deputy Director, Directorate of Panchayats & Rural Development by a communicating Memo No. 696/HDP dated July 17, 2017 under Serial No. 1191. The report of the Three Men Committee was made in June 2017, but till date it appears that no further steps have been taken in the matter by the concerned authority.

It appears from the instruction handed over to the learned advocate of the State respondents that the matter is pending consideration at the end of the Department of Panchayat & Rural Development.

The instant writ petition is accordingly disposed of by directing the Commissioner of the Panchayat & Rural Development Department to take a decision in the matter within a period of eight weeks from the date of communication of a copy of this order.

The Commissioner shall pass a reasoned order and communicate the same to the petitioner immediately thereafter.

The writ petition being WPA No. 8381 of 2020 stands disposed of.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties after completion of all legal formalities.
