The petitioner undertakes to affirm and stamp the petition as per the Rules within 48 hours of resumption of normal functioning of the court. The petition is taken up through video conference on the basis of such undertaking. The petitioner is the brother of the husband of the victim who was burnt to death.

The State relies on statements rendered by neighbours who rushed to the place of occurrence. Such statements of the neighbours attribute equal blame to the husband of the victim and to the present petitioner.

Considering the menace that bride-burning is and the possible role of the petitioner, the prayer for bail is rejected. CRM 7955 of 2020 and the interim application therein stand disposed of.
