Mr. Tulsi Das Maiti, Mr. Pradip Kumar Ghosh .....for the petitioners The grievance of the petitioners is that a document deposited with the registering authority by the petitioners has not been made over to the petitioners despite the petitioners' applications therefor.

It appears to be fairly evident that the petitioners were aware a to why the registered document was not made over to the petitioners. The State apprehends that forged stamp papers may have used for the preparation of the document and the original document has been forwarded to the appropriate forum in connection with the criminal proceedings.

The petitioners are agreeable to deposit the amount due on account of stamp duty in respect of the document which the respondent authorities will keep in a term deposit till it is finally ascertained as to whether the stamp papers were forged or not.

The petitioners should put in the requisite amount within a fortnight from date whereupon the certified copy of the documents should be made available by the respondent authorities to the petitioners within six weeks from the date of the deposit.

This order will not prevent the State from taking appropriate steps against the petitioners in the event the petitioners' involvement is discovered in the forgery of stamp papers.

The writ petition is allowed as above without any order as to costs.
