The petitioner undertakes to affirm and stamp the petition as per the Rules within one week of resumption of normal functioning of the court. The petition is taken up through video conference on the basis of such undertaking.

The petitioner was apparently apprehended with commercial quantity of contraband. The petitioner seeks a direction for the expeditious conduct of the trial in view of the petitioner's advanced age and the various ailments that he suffers from. The State should ensure that the chemical analysis report is obtained and filed within the next two months, if not already done by now. The State should also ensure that the trial is commenced as expeditiously as possible and, preferably, within three months from date. If there is any absconding accused, the trial may be continued against this petitioner or the other available accused without waiting for the others.

Considering that the petitioner was found with commercial quantity of contraband, the prayer for bail is rejected.

CRM 8552 of 2020 is disposed of.
