Advocate ... ... for the State The petitioners claim that following a complaint of corruption brought against the Upa Pradhan of the Gram Panchayat at Khanpur village and the petitioners' assertion that the local police was involved therein, completely false charges have been brought against the petitioners. According to the petitioners, several others charged similarly have been granted bail by this court.

The State is represented and says that several of the present petitioners stand on the same footing as others who have obtained bail except the petitioner nos.9 and 11, who according to the State, were the principal assailants.

Considering the incident complained of and the surrounding circumstances, there may not by any further need to detain the petitioners. However, the petitioners should cooperate with the investigation and report to the investigating officer, as and when called, till the investigation is complete.

The petitioners will be enlarged on bail upon furnishing security of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten thousand only) each, with two sureties of like amount each, one of whom must be local, to the satisfaction of the appropriate court in Birbhum. CRM 8773 of 2020 is disposed of.
