...... for the State The petitioner undertakes to affirm and stamp the petition as per the Rules within one week of resumption of normal functioning of the court. The petition is taken up through video conference on the basis of such undertaking.

The petitioner claims that since his wife committed suicide, the further detention of the petitioner may not be necessary.

The State says that even the prayer for bail of the petitioner's mother has been turned down by a coordinate Bench today, since there was sufficient material to indicate that an exorbitant demand of dowry was made and the death of the victim was within two months of the marriage. The menace of dowry does not go away. Even in this day and age, brides burn everyday or are found hanging, unable to bear the torture inflicted on them for their failing to get more dowry. Considering that the petitioner's wife committed suicide

within two months of marriage, it may not be appropriate to let the petitioner out at this stage. The prayer for bail is refused. CRM 9298 of 2020 is disposed of.
