Statements of witnesses as well as post mortem report disclose that the petitioner had assaulted his wife resulting in her death. In view of the gravity of the offence and primary role played by the petitioner in the alleged offence, we are of the opinion the petitioner does not stand on the same footing with the co-accused persons who are on bail. Accordingly, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. The application for bail is, thus, rejected.
