Mr. Arnab Mukherjee ...for the petitioner Mr. T.M. Siddique ...for the State-respondents The petitioner has alleged that illegal mining is continuing on the petitioner's land and, despite having lodged a complaint (annexed at page 47 of the writ petition), the police-authorities are not taking any steps thereon.

Learned counsel appearing for the Staterespondents files a report by the Inspector-inCharge, Raniganj Police Station A.D.P.C., which indicates that the police conducted a joint raid with the E.C.L. Authorities and filled up seven illegal rat-holes on the site-in-question. It is submitted by the State-respondents that at present no further illegal rat-hole, which are indicators of illegal mining, is found on the alleged plot, nor has any recent instance of such

illegal mining come to the notice of the policeauthorities. In view of such report, it is evident that the police have taken sufficient steps, at least for the time being, with regard to the complaint of the petitioner.

Accordingly, W.P.A. No. 9369 of 2020 is disposed of by granting the petitioner liberty to approach this Court and/or appropriate authorities, in the event any further illegal mining takes place on the petitioner's land.

There will be no order as to costs.
