The grievance of the petitioners is that they were issued offer letters by the office of the District Magistrate of North 24 Parganas (Motor Vehicles Department) in the month of January 2019. Thereafter, on the basis of such representation made by the authorities they have altered their position by depositing the permit fees and they have also insured their vehicles with different insurance companies by paying premium. But till date permits have not been issued to them and that is why they cannot ply the vehicles.

Ventilating their grievances they made a representation dated 01.02.2020 to the Regional Transport Officer, Barasat which is Annexure - P4 of this writ application at page 187. It is also the grievance of the petitioners that this representation has also not been considered and they have not intimated

anything as to the result of the representation till date. In these circumstances, I direct the Regional Transport Authority to consider the representation dated 01.02.2020 after giving an opportunity of hearing to the petitioners within a period of six weeks from date and to intimate the decision with reasons to the learned advocate for the petitioners by two weeks thereafter.

With the above direction, this writ application is disposed of.

As nobody appears for the State-Respondents in this matter, I request Mr. Amal Kumar Sen to appear and assist this Court in this matter along with his junior Mr. Lal Mohan Basu. His engagement is required to be regularized as he has assisted this Court in this matter.

Learned advocate for the petitioners is directed to serve a complete copy of this writ application to any of the learned advocates appearing today for the Staterespondents. (Abhijit Gangopadhyay, J)
