In the matter of : Debabrata Chowdhury.
... Petitioner.
Mr. Amitabha Karmakar, Mr. Arup Kr. Bhowmick.
...for the Petitioner.
Mr. Saswata Gopal Mukherjee, ld.P.P., Mr. Aniket Mitra.
...for the State.
Heard the learned Counsels appearing on behalf of the parties.
It is submitted on behalf of the petitioner that he is in custody for about 160 days. He prays for bail. Learned Advocate appearing for the State submits that the victim housewife was subjected to torture and suffered unnatural death within eight months of marriage. Statements of witnesses disclose torture of the victim housewife. Post Mortem report corroborates the allegation of physical assault and throttling. That apart, poison was also found in the stomach.
In view of the aforesaid materials on record, we are of the opinion that this is not a fit case to grant bail to the petitioner. Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected.
