The petitioner has made an innocuous prayer that the Review Committee, Assessment Department of the Howrah Municipal Corporation be directed to dispose of the demand of justice dated September 29, 2020 being annexure - P5 to the writ petition. Although it is contended by the Howrah Municipal Corporation that the application has not been addressed to the Review Committee, this court is of the opinion that the writ petition may be considered by the Review Committee along with the demand of justice which contain in detail the contentions of the petitioner as to why the annual valuation fixed by the Howrah Municipal Corporation

was incorrect and not in accordance with the provisions of law.

The petitioner has sought to demonstrate that similar flats/premises in the same building/apartment has been assessed at a lower rate.

Under such circumstances, the writ petition is disposed of directing Review Committee, Assessment Department of the Howrah Municipal Corporation to dispose of the demand of justice dated September 29, 2020 in accordance with law upon hearing the petitioner. A reasoned order shall be passed and communicated to the petitioner.

This court has not gone into the merits of the claims of the petitioner.

The entire exercise shall be completed within a period of eight weeks from the date of communication of this order.

The writ petition is, thus, disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
