The petitioners challenge the inaction on the part of the police.

The petitioner no. 1 has approached the relevant police making some allegations against her son who is impleaded as respondent no. 8 in this petition. Mr. Subhabrata Datta, learned Advocate appearing on behalf of the State, submits that a preliminary enquiry has been made by the police. It is found that the dispute is civil in nature.

The grievance of the petitioners primarily appears to be non-payment of maintenance to her by her son. She wants eviction of her son from the house which belonged to her deceased husband.

Mr. Datta further submits that it is not possible for the police to evict the son from his ancestral house.

As far as the petitioners' grievance is concerned with regard to the supply of electricity to her son, it

appears that separate electric line has been effected in favour of the son. Mr. Anirban Mitra, learned Advocate appearing on behalf of the respondent nos. 5 to 7, submits that the son is now enjoying electricity from a separate meter.

I do not see any reason to entertain this writ petition since the police have got no role to play in a family dispute like this. The petitioner no. 1 may file appropriate application for her maintenance against her son before the appropriate authority.

With these observations, the writ petition is disposed of.
