It is submitted on behalf of the petitioner that he is in custody for 1 and 1⁄2 years. Investigation is complete.

Learned lawyer for the State opposes the prayer for bail. We have considered the statements of the witnesses who stated that the petitioner and co-accused had assaulted the victim. As a result, the victim expired. In view of the gravity of the offence, we are of the opinion that this is not a fit case to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage.
