Learned advocate for the petitioner is present in Court. The petitioner is aggrieved by the manner in which the proceedings in connection with Criminal Case being N169/19 (G.R. No. 4031/19) is progressing before the learned Additional District and Sessions Judge, 6th Court, Barasat. The learned advocate for the petitioner is directed to serve a copy of the application upon Mr. Anwar Hossain, learned advocate who ordinarily appears for the State. In view of the fact that the petitioner is in custody since 15.10.2019 (as submitted by the learned advocate for the petitioner) and that the records reflect that very recently supplementary charge-sheet was filed on 21.10.2020, I am of the opinion that the proceedings before the trial court should be expedited. Accordingly, I direct the learned trial court to consider the stage of framing of charge, if the same has not been framed till date and fix schedule of the case at regular intervals so that the same can be taken to its logical conclusion within a reasonable period of time.

The learned court below is directed not to grant any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties and if any witness is absent without any sufficient cause, the learned court below would be at liberty to exhaust the process of law as it deems fit and proper.

No time schedule is fixed for the present. However, the learned court below is directed to exercise its authority to expedite the progress of the trial and conclude the same at the earliest.

With the aforesaid observations, CRR 1773 of 2020 is disposed of.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties upon compliance with the necessary formalities.
