Apprehending arrest in connection Serampore Women P.S. Case No. 46 of 2018 dated 18.08.2018 under Sections 498A/406/341/376D/313/370A/325/354B/120B/34 of the Indian Penal Code, the petitioner has filed the instant application for anticipatory bail under Section 438 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

The learned Advocate for the petitioner submits that the petitioner has been falsely implicated in the present case. The petitioner was a matchmaker of the marriage of the victim.

The learned advocate for the State opposes the prayer for anticipatory bail.

Having regard to the statement of the victim lady recorded under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, prima facie, disclosing complicity of the petitioner

in the alleged offence, we are of the view that the petitioner should not be granted anticipatory bail.

Accordingly, the prayer for anticipatory bail of the petitioner is rejected.
