Liberty is granted to the petitioners to amend the cause title.

The petitioners are aggrieved by the fact that the petitioners are in custody for more than 13 months, yet there has been no progress in the case. It has been brought to the notice of this court by the learned advocate for the petitioners that they were arrested on 21.11.2019, charge sheet was submitted on 05.06.2020 and the supplementary chargesheet has already been submitted.

The record reveals that the prosecution has relied upon 12 witnesses and it has been submitted that the next date is fixed on 21.01.2021 for consideration of charge. Having regard to the period of detention of the petitioners, I am of the opinion that the learned court should take all efforts so that the stage of consideration of charge against the petitioners can be completed on the next date so fixed or within a week thereafter.

The learned trial court would thereafter proceed by fixing a schedule at regular intervals so that the trial can be taken to its logical conclusion within a reasonable period of time.

With the aforesaid observations, CRR 1888 of 2020 is disposed of.
