The allegation of the petitioner is that the Officer-in-charge, Ashoknagar Police Station did not take any steps despite the complaint filed on September 16, 2019.

The learned advocate for the State respondents submits that the remedy of the petitioner would be under Section 156(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

This court is of the view that the complaint on which reliance has been placed by the petitioner, was addressed to the District Magistrate. This is not a proper compliant before the police authorities. A letter written to the District Magistrate, cannot be treated as a complaint before the police authorities.

The petitioner is at liberty to file a specific complaint before the police authorities. If such compliant is filed, the same shall be acted upon, in accordance with law and within a specific time. The writ petition is disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.
