1. It is an unfortunate incident of death of a mother and her MONDAY COURT : 01 ITEM : 01-02 MATTER : A-DB STATUS : OP BENCH ID : 1482 TRANSCRIBER : NANDY daughter and the investigation was initially conducted treating the same as suicidal death. The matter was brought to the Court and by an order dated 29.01.2025, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was directed to be constituted as some incriminating materials were unearthed which ruled out the probability of a suicidal death. The Court directed the SIT to submit a report on periodical basis indicating the progress of the investigation.
2. Today such status report is filed indicating the progress in the investigation which appears to us, is at the mid-stage. The Investigating Officer against whom the aspersions were made by the Presiding Bench is stated to have been transferred from the said Police Station without any further action having taken in this regard. The earlier Bench found that one of the deceased suffered head injury with a blunt object and, therefore, cannot be said to be a probable case of suicidal death.
3. The investigation is in progress and it is submitted by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor that there is no lapses on
P a g e | 2 the part of the SIT in conducting the same and the final report in the form of an charge-sheet may be filed in near future. The SIT has collected many materials which are collated in the report filed today.
4. Since the investigation is still in progress, the SIT is directed to complete the investigation as early as possible. Further progress report would be submitted to this Court after a fortnight.
