The petitioner claims to have won lottery after purchasing a lottery ticket from West Bengal State Lottery Holi Bumper, which was drawn on March 28, 2013. After he had won the lottery a rival claim by someone was also made before the lottery authority to get the prize money. In order to resolve the dispute, a single Judge's Bench of this Court passed an order on May 15, 2013, in a writ petition, being W.P. 14271 (W) of 2013 filed by the present petitioner, directing to take appropriate steps for the purpose of settlement of the claim after consideration of the examination, which was to be made by the Forensic Science Laboratory to ascertain the genuineness between the rival claims.
It is the petitioner's only claim at this stage that although such a direction was given in presence of the State respondents, no decision thereof has yet been communicated by the Director of west Bengal State Lottery, respondent No. 2.
In such circumstances, the said respondent No. 2
is directed to communicate the decision of the Forensic examination as indicated in the aforesaid order dated May 15, 2013 (annexure 'p-6' at page 41 of the writ petition) to the petitioner within a period of four weeks from date with a copy of the report of the Forensic Science Laboratory. With this observation, the writ petition is disposed of.
There will be no order as to costs.
