An unfortunate mother has approached this Court praying for a direction upon the police to conduct the enquiry and find out the reasons for the untimely death of her son who was serving in the Indian Army. A First Information Report was lodged before the police station on 25th January, 2019 being FIR No. 14 of 2019 dated 25th January, 2019.

The petitioner submits that steps have not been taken by the police to proceed with the said investigation.

The respondent No.3, the Superintendent of Police, Jalpaiguri is directed to take prompt necessary steps to ensure that the investigation of the FIR No.14 of 2019 dated 25th January, 2019 is completed at the earliest but positively within a period of six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The writ petition is disposed of.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order be supplied to the parties, if applied for, as early as possible.
