The petitioner is serving as a Tax Collector Sarkar. He prays for a direction upon the respondent authorities for conclusion of the recruitment process for appointment in the post of Gram Panchayat Karmee. Learned advocate representing the State respondents submits, upon instructions, that the process of recruitment could not be concluded as the gradation list cannot be prepared and the number of vacancies cannot be calculated.
The District Panchayat & Rural Development Officer has already sought instructions from the Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Panchayat and Rural Development but instruction from that end is awaiting.
It appears from the submissions made on behalf of the parties that the recruitment process was initiated in
the year 2016 but the same has not been concluded till date.
There is a prescribed age limit for recruitment as Gram Panchayat Karmee. Due to passage of time, there may be many Tax Collecting Sarkars who may have crossed the age bar for participating in the recruitment process of Gram Panchayat Karmee.
It is high time that the respondent authorities take a decision with regard to conclusion of the recruitment process which was initiated nearly five years back. In view of the above, the instant writ petition is disposed of by directing the respondent no. 1 to take positive steps to conclude the process of recruitment which was initiated in the year 2016, at the earliest, but positively within a period of four months from the date of communication of a copy of this order. The instant writ petition stands disposed of. Urgent certified photo copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties expeditiously on compliance of usual legal formalities.
