(DB) No. 127 of 2023 In Re:- An application for bail under Section 439 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in connection with Pradhan Nagar Police Station Case No. 497 of 2021 dated 15.07.2021 under Sections 370/468/471/34 of the Indian Penal Code.

And In Re : Bappa Pradhan @ Alanur Pradhan ..... petitioner Mr. Pintu Kumar Deb ... for the petitioner Mr. Abhijit Sarkar Mr. Tapan Bhattacharjee ... for the State Learned Counsel for the petitioner submits he is in custody for 88 days. Co-accuseds are on bail. Investigation is complete. He prays for bail.

Learned Counsel for the State opposes the prayer for bail and submits petitioner is involved in trafficking women across the international border.

We have considered the materials on record. Statements of witnesses implicate the petitioner in the crime which is an organized racket for trafficking women across the international border. Keeping in mind the nature of offence and the possibility of commission of similar offences while on bail, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage.

The application for bail is, thus, rejected.
