The petitioner is alleging that the Public Works Department (Road), without levying any valid acquisition proceeding has exploited his land to construct the Teesta Bridge at Mekhliganj, District-Coochbehar.

The representation of the petitioner with other land losers in the said project dated October 16, 2023 is pending consideration before the concerned authorities.

The said representation forms part of the writ petition, appearing at page 13.

The petitioner is praying a direction upon the relevant authority for disposal of the said representation.

The said representation though is addressed to the Public Works Department but copy thereof has been forwarded to the Special

Land Acquisition Officer, Coochbehar, the respondent no.6 herein, the appropriate authority to consider the grievances of the petitioner.

The respondent no. 6, therefore is directed to consider the said representation in accordance with law as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of eight weeks from the date of communication of this order, after giving the petitioner and/or his authorized representative an opportunity of hearing.

The petitioner is required to serve a complete copy of the writ petition along with the copy of this order upon the said respondent.

W.P.A 478 of 2024 is disposed of with the above terms without any order as to costs.

Since no affidavit has been invited, the allegations made in the writ petition are deemed to have been denied by the respondents.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties subject to compliance with all requisite formalities.
