APP Mr. Dr. Arjun Chowdhury ... for the State Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for 377 days and in spite of chargesheet having been submitted, till date, charges have not been framed and there has been no progress in the case. Learned advocate for the State opposes the prayer for bail and submits that huge quantity of contraband/ganja were seized from the exclusive possession of the petitioner, as such, rigors of Section 37 of the NDPS Act is attracted so he may not be released on bail.

I have considered the submissions of the learned advocate for the petitioner as well as that of the State and on perusal of the Case diary, I am of the view that this is not a fit case to enlarge the petitioner on bail, at this stage. Accordingly the prayer for bail of the petitioner is Rejected.

However, the petitioner would be at liberty to renew his prayer for bail after the stage of consideration of charges are over.

Accordingly, CRM(NDPS) 82 of 2025 is dismissed. Pending application(s), if any, is also disposed of. Parties to act on a server copy of this order duly collected from the official website of the Hon'ble High Court, Calcutta.
