APP Mr. Dr. Arjun Chowdhury ... for the State The petitioners have been arraigned as accused in connection with New Jalpaiguri (GRPS) PS Case No. 97 of 2024 under the relevant provisions of the NDPS. The Seizure List reveals that 26.826 kg of ganja were recovered from the joint possession of the petitioners. Learned advocate for the State opposes the prayer for the bail of the petitioners.

Having regard to the quantity of the seizure and the petitioners being the females who are in custody since 18.12.2024, I am of the view that the petitioners be

released on bail immediately after the charge is framed by the learned Special Court. The learned Special Court will decide the amount of the bond and would impose a local surety who would furnish title deed of his/her property as also ensure the physical presence of the accused on each and every date of the trial of the case.

Accordingly, CRM(NDPS) 89 of 2025 is disposed of. Pending application(s), if any, is also disposed of. Parties to act on a server copy of this order duly collected from the official website of the Hon'ble High Court, Calcutta.
