And In Re: Ranjan Sahani - Petitioner Mr. Debasish Mukherjee, Ms. Jeenia Rudra ...for the Petitioner Ms. Namrata Das ...for the State Apprehending arrest in connection with Siliguri (T) GRPS Case no.1 of 2022 dated 05.01.2022 under Sections 395/412 of the Indian Penal Code, the present application has been preferred. Ms. Rudra, learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is innocent. He has been falsely implicated. There had been no recovery from the petitioner. In view thereof, custodial interrogation may not be necessary. Ms. Das, learned advocate appearing for the State opposes the petitioner's prayer and submits that several raids were conducted to arrest the petitioner but in vain. She submits that the petitioner has direct nexus in the alleged offence.
Heard the learned advocates appearing for the respective parties and considered the materials in the case diary. Considering the gravity of the offence, the conduct of the petitioner and the possible extent of his complicity in the alleged offence, we are not inclined to exercise any discretion in his favour.
Accordingly, the application for anticipatory bail, being CRM (A) 215 of 2022 is dismissed.
