Pursuant to Memorandum No.288-SW/3S/225/05 dated 25th June, 2006 with regard to recruitment to the post of Anganwadi Workers/Helpers issued by the Joint Secretary, Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare, Government of West Bengal, the petitioner applied for appointment to the said post and having found eligible was asked to appear before the Selection Committee in 2007. Despite there being a Memorandum dated 2nd June, 2010 contemplating completion of recruitment process of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers within a period of four months from the date of issuance of the memorandum, no appointment letter has been issued to the petitioner or other empanelled candidates by the authority till date.
The petitioner submitted a representation before the concerned authority on 4th April, 2022 requesting the issuance of order for appointment to the post of Anganwadi Workers on the basis of the recruitment notice. The said representation is yet to be disposed of by the concerned authority. The petitioner has prayed for a direction upon the concerned authority to consider the representation of the petitioner at the earliest.
Having considered the submissions made on behalf of the parties and material on record, the writ petition is disposed of directing the 4th respondent to consider and dispose of the representation submitted by the petitioner dated 4th April, 2022 within two months from the date of communication of this order after giving reasonable opportunity of hearing to all the interested parties including the petitioner, in accordance with law. The decision taken by the authority shall be communicated to the petitioner within a week thereof. With the above observations and directions this writ petition being WPA 1253 of 2022 is disposed of. However, there shall be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit is invited, the allegations contained in the petition are deemed not to be admitted.
