The Power Grid Corporation has exploited the land of the petitioners to take the overhead High tension electricity line and had assessed the compensation in terms of the relevant provisions of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885. The petitioners are alleging that a cheque was issued on account of the said compensation amount but for the failure of the petitioners to encash it within time, it has lapsed; they are praying for issuance of a fresh cheque.

The petitioners, within a period of seven days from date, shall furnish the details of their bank account to the Deputy General Manager, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Eastern Region), the respondent no. 4 herein, enabling the said respondent to transfer the said compensation amount, if not already paid, in the said bank account, expeditiously, preferably, within a period of three weeks from the date of supply of the details of the bank account.

WPA 1173 of 2021 is disposed of with the above terms without any order as to costs.
