The petitioner has preferred the present writ petition, being aggrieved by the alleged refusal on the part of the respondent-WBSEDCL, to grant an electricity connection to his newly constructed resort operating under the name and style of 'Paciano Resort' at Village Manabari, Para - Bashbari, P.S. Mal, Dist. Jalpaiguri.

It is the case of the petitioner that despite having deposited a sum of Rs.10,04,112/- on 29.04.2024, in terms of the demand raised by the respondent-WBSEDCL, no electricity connection has been granted to his resort. The petitioner contends that despite various follow-ups and reminders, no remedial action has been taken by the respondent-WBSEDCL.

Learned Advocate for the respondent-WBSEDCL Limited submits that the authorities are ready and willing to grant electricity connection to the petitioner, provided

adequate police protection is extended to their officials. Learned Advocate for the respondent-WBSEDCL further submits that on an earlier occasion while attempting to energise the connection, the officials were obstructed by local inhabitants.

Learned Advocate for the State-respondents submits that there has been resistance from the local villagers, which reflects prevailing tension in the locality.

In view thereof, this Court directs the respondentWBSEDCL to grant electricity connection to the petitioner's resort within a period of two weeks from date subject to compliance of all necessary formalities.

Inspector-in-Charge, Malbazar Police Station (respondent no.9) is directed to provide adequate police protection to the officials of the respondent-WBSEDCL so that they can provide electricity connection to the petitioner's resort. Costs of the same shall be borne by the petitioner. 7.

With the aforesaid directions, the present writ petition is disposed of.

Since no affidavits have been filed by the respondents, the allegations made in the writ petition shall not be deemed to have been admitted.
