Ms. Papiya Chattopadhyay for the petitioner Mr. B. J. Basu, Mr. R. L. Ghatak for the State Pursuant to a Recruitment Notice published for appointment of Anganwadi Helpers in different Anganwadi Centres of the Gram Panchayet under the Dinhata-I Block the petitioner applied for being appointed in the said post in the year 2006. The selection process was over and the name of the petitioner appeared at serial no. 9 of the panel which was prepared for qualified candidates for the post of Anganwadi Helpers by the Chairman of the Selection Committee of the Dinhata-I ICDS Project.

The grievance of the petitioner in the writ petition is that even though her name appeared in the panel of qualifying candidates the appointment letter was not issued in her favour.

The learned advocate representing the State respondent upon instructions submits that the petitioner is eligible for being appointed in the post of Anganwadi Helper in terms of the roster point and also in order of merit. There is one vacancy left and the petitioner shall be appointed in the said post.

In view of the aforesaid submissions made on behalf of the respondent, no useful purpose will be served by keeping the writ petition pending. Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of by directing the Child Development Project Officer, Dinhata-I ICDS Project being the respondent no. 7 herein to take prompt necessary steps for issuance of appointment letter in favour of the petitioner within a period of five weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

The written instruction given by the Child Development Project Officer, Dinhata-I ICDS Project to the learned advocate representing the State respondent is retained with the records.

W.P. No. 23502 (W) of 2019 is disposed of.
