1. Learned Counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for 9 years and is aged about 73 years and there is no possibility of the trial being concluded in the near future.

2. Learned Counsel for the prosecution opposes the prayer for bail and submits that the charges are grave and 22nd June 2023 has been fixed for cross-examination of the Investigating Officer. It is further submitted that the examination of all other witnesses have been completed in the meantime.

3. Under such circumstances, we are of the opinion that this is not fit case where the petitioner shall be granted bail at this stage.

4. The application for bail is accordingly rejected.

5. However, we request the Learned Trial Judge to conclude the trial and dispose of the matter within 6 months from the date fixed next.

6. CRM (DB) 307 of 2023 is disposed of.
