Rakib In the High Court at Calcutta Circuit Bench at Jalpaiguri Criminal Miscellaneous Jurisdiction CRM (NDPS) 264 of 2025 In Re: An Application for Bail under Section 483 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 in connection with New Jalpaiguri Government Railway Police Station case no. 01/2025 dated 11.01.2025 under Sections 8(c)/20(b)(ii)(c)/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. And In the matter of : Suranjan Barman.
......Petitioner.
Mr. Ms. Esha Acharya, Mr. Sampad Das, Mr. Krishan Chowdhury, Mr. Rimik Chakraborty.
......for the Petitioner.
Mr. Aditi Shankar Chakraborty, ld APP, Mr. Aniruddha Biswas.
......for the State.
Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for about 157 days and allegedly there have been seizures from two persons including the present petitioner for about 25.800 kgs of contraband/ganja.
Having considered the fact that the charge-sheet has already been submitted and the copies are yet to supplied to the accused persons, I am of the view that the petitioner be granted liberty to renew his prayer for bail after the stage of consideration of charges are over.
Accordingly, CRM (NDPS) 264 of 2025 is dismissed. All parties shall act in terms of server copy of the order downloaded from the official website of this Court. (Tirthankar Ghosh, J.)
