The petitioner complains that despite the petitioner's land having been acquired, no compensation in respect thereof has been paid to the petitioner. It is submitted by the learned Advocate appearing on behalf of the petitioner that the petitioner has requested the respondents to disburse the compensation in favour of the petitioner for acquisition of the petitioner's land but requests of the petitioner have fallen on deaf ears.

Learned Advocate for the petitioner invites the attention of this Court to a letter dated May 29, 2025 issued to the Special Land Acquisition Officer, Cooch Behar, whereby the petitioner has through his learned Advocate requested for

disbursement of compensation in his favour. It is submitted that such representation has remained pending since long.

Having heard the learned Advocates appearing for the respective parties and having considered the material on record, the writ petition being WPA No. 1324 of 2025 is disposed of by directing the respondent no. 3, Special Land Acquisition Officer, Cooch Behar to consider the petitioner's representation dated May 29, 2025 (Annexure P13 at page 20 of the writ petition) and pass a reasoned order thereon upon giving an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order. In case the petitioner is found to be entitled to compensation, the respondent no. 3 shall take immediate steps to disburse such compensation to the petitioner to which the petitioner would be found entitled. In case the respondent no. 3 finds that the petitioner is not entitled to compensation, the respondent no. 3 shall pass a reasoned order to such effect and communicate such order to the petitioner within a week from the date of passing thereof.
