Mr. Dhnanjay Nayak ..... for the petitioner Mr. Sudipto panda Ms. Mummun Tewary ..... for the State Mr. Sujit Sankar koley .....for the WBSEDCL The electricity connection of the petitioner was disconnected by the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company on 15.07.2022. The petitioner submits that the petitioner has not been informed of the particulars of the amount to be paid to the Company and that the notice itself is contrary to the provisions of The Electricity Act, 2003. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner was not served with any electricity bills for last ten years. This is disputed on behalf of the Company.

Learned counsel submits that the petitioner was given an electricity connection in February, 2011 and has not paid the monthly electricity charges from February, 2011.

Upon hearing learned counsel and considering the provisions of 2003 Act including Sections 126 and 127 thereof, this Court is of the view that the writ petition may be disposed of by directing the Company to inform the monthly electricity charges payable by the petitioner by 28th July, 2022. The petitioner shall thereafter pay the amount as informed within seven days. The respondents shall reconnect the electricity line within 48 hours from date when full payment is made by the petitioner to the respondent electricity Company.

WPA 1997 of 2022 is disposed of in terms of the above.

The petitioner shall be at liberty for approaching the statutory forum available to the petitioner in the meantime.
