In exercise of powers under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, this Court cannot pass any mandatory direction as the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955 is a notified Act and the jurisdiction vests in the West Bengal Land Reforms and Tenancy Tribunal.
However, as an innocuous prayer for expeditious disposal of a pending proceeding has been made, the petitioner is granted liberty to approach the authority with a specific prayer for
early disposal of the proceeding and in which event, the concerned authority shall consider such prayer and dispose of the matter expeditiously and in accordance with law.
With these observations, the writ petition is disposed of.
