1. Affidavit of service filed on behalf of the petitioners is taken on record.

2. Widow of a deceased employee of North Bengal State Transport Corporation (for short 'NBSTC') and daughter of the deceased employee have jointly approached this Court with the present writ petition seeking appointment on compassionate ground. It is submitted by the learned advocate representing the petitioner that employee died-in-harness on 18th November, 2019 and subsequently application was made on 22nd January, 2020 seeking appointment on compassionate ground. Mother being petitioner no. 1 has given no objection as it is submitted, in favour of petitioner no. 2 being the daughter of deceased employee for getting appointment.

3. It is contended that in spite of repeated reminders and representations till date claim of the petitioner

no. 2 for appointment on compassionate ground has not been decided.

4. NBSTC and State respondents are represented by learned advocates.

5. Mr.

Bikramaditya Ghosh, learned advocate representing NBSTC has submitted that since the issue is pending for long before the concerned authority of NBSTC decision is required to be taken.

Having considered the respective submissions made on behalf of the parties, Managing Director, NBSTC being respondent no. 3 is directed to decide the claim of petitioner no. 2 for appointment on compassionate ground by 8 (eight) weeks from the date of communication of this order after granting opportunity of hearing to the petitioners or their representatives. Respondent no. 3 shall pass a reasoned order and same shall be communicated to the petitioners by fortnight thereafter.

7. Writ petition stands disposed of.

8. Department is directed to expunge respondent no. 20 from the array of respondents by amending the cause title.

9. Urgent photostat certified copy of the order, if applied for, be given to the parties, upon usual undertakings. (Saugata Bhattacharyya, J.)
