The petitioners contested the Panchayat General Elections, 2023.

They raise several allegations with regard to the illegalities on the day of the poll and at the time of counting.

It appears that the first complaint was lodged before the respondent authority on 17th July, 2023. Be it recorded that the election was conducted on 8th July, 2023 and result of the election was declared on 11th July, 2023.

According to the provisions of law, the prayer for recounting is required to be made on the day of counting, prior to declaration of result.

The same not being done, no relief can be granted to the petitioner in the instant case.

The writ petition fails and is hereby dismissed. Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties expeditiously on compliance of usual legal formalities.
