1. The petitioner participated in a recruitment process for appointment of teacher in the upper primary school. He was selected for the post and a letter of recommendation was issued in favour of the petitioner in November, 2024.

2. As per the West Bengal School Service Commission (Selection for Appointment to the Posts of Teachers for Upper Primary Level of Schools) Rules, 2016, a recommendation letter issued by the Commission remains valid for a period of 90 days from the date of issue.

3. Due to some medical emergency in the family, the petitioner initially expressed his inability to

join in terms of the recommendation made in his favour. But thereafter he withdrew the aforesaid communication and expressed his desire to join the post. Last communication was made by the petitioner within the validity period of the recommendation letter.

4. There is no response from the end of the Commission. The representation made by the petitioner before the Commission is pending consideration since February 2025.

5. Without entering into the merit of the prayer of the petitioner at this stage, as it appears that the petitioner's prayer is pending consideration before the Commission, accordingly, the instant writ petition stands disposed of by directing the Chairman of the West Bengal Central School Service Commission or a competent authority engaged by the Commission to take a decision on the prayer of the petitioner strictly in accordance with law at the earliest but positively within a period of six weeks from the date of communication of this order.

6. If required, the petitioner may be directed to submit relevant documents in support of his prayer.

7. The reasoned order of the Commission shall be communicated to the petitioner without any delay.

8. The writ petition stands disposed of.

9. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties, upon compliance of necessary formalities.
