Learned advocate appearing for the appellant draws the attention of the Court to a letter dated July 2, 2024 and

submits that, the Vice Chancellor of the University requested for a police picket to protect. He points out that, the letter itself records that the University will pay for the police picket. Learned Additional Advocate General appearing for the State submits that, the State does not object to the placement of a police picket at the cost of the University for a limited period of time.

It appears from the records that University wrote a letter dated July 2, 2024 to the Superintendent of Police requesting for installation of police picket at the cost of the University. Appellant filed a writ petition complaining of police inaction. There are other prayers in the writ petition also.

By the impugned order, learned Single Judge passed an interim order where the learned Single Judge put in certain interim measures for the ingress and egress to the University. Being aggrieved by the refusal of the learned Single Judge to grant a police picket, the appellant preferred the present appeal.

As noted above, learned Additional Advocate General submits on instructions that State does not object to the

placement of a police picket at the cost of the University for a limited period.

In such circumstances, State will place a police picket at an appropriate place initially for a period of three months. Parties are at liberty to mention for early disposal of the writ petition. Appellant is at liberty to apply for extension of the period of the police picket before the learned Single Judge, if required.

M.A.T. 82 of 2024 is, therefore, disposed of without any order as to costs.
