The application for bail is canvassed by the petitioner in connection with Mekhliganj P.S. Case No.66 of 2016 dated 26.03.2016 under Sections 448/376 of the IPC. 2.

It is submitted by the counsel for the petitioner that the trial has commenced before the Additional Sessions Judge, Mekhliganj. PW 1 has been examined. The evidence of the PW 2 is fixed on 16.12.2023.

Having regard to the nature of the offence registered against the petitioner, the statement of the victim and the statements of

the other witnesses under section 161 of the CrPC, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage. 4.

In these circumstances, the application for bail is hereby rejected.
