Mr. Anirban Banerjee ... for the petitioner Mr. Bikramaditya Ghosh Ms. Bedashruti Bose ... for the State Mr. Banerjee, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner seeks leave to file a supplementary affidavit.

Such leave is granted. Supplementary affidavit is taken on record. Copy of the Supplementary affidavit has been served upon Ms. Bose, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State.

The grievance of the petitioner is that a senior citizen being tortured by her daughter-in-law and grand daughter being the private respondent nos. 6 & 7. Mr. Banerjee, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submitted that several police complaints were lodged. However, no action was taken.

Ms. Bose, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State submitted that necessary F.I.R. had already

been registered by the local police authority and police case has already been initiated bearing Police Case No. Kotwali P.S. Case No. 606 of 2022 dated 08.9.2022 under Sections 323/325/506 of the Indian Penal Code. Learned counsel appearing for the State further submitted that two counter criminal cases are also there against the petitioner filed by the private respondents. Ms. Bose, further submitted Charge sheet had already been issued on the basis of the complaint made by the petitioner.

Considering the above submissions, the local police authority and / or the jurisdictional police authority is directed to take steps as expeditiously as possible to come to a reasonable conclusion of the said criminal cases registered at the instance of the petitioner on the basis of the complaint lodged in accordance with law.

However the police authority is further directed to take cognizance of the complaint dated February 17, 2023 disclosed through a supplementary affidavit filed by the petitioner.

It is further recorded that the mediation process which was initiated pursuant to the observation made by a co-ordinate Bench dated March 23, 2023 had failed due to non co-operation of the private respondent as submitted by the learned counsel for the petitioner.

With the above observation the writ petition being W.P.A. 3324 of 2022 stands disposed of, without any order as to costs.
