Case No. 237/2023 dated 20.06.2023 under Sections 498A/307/326/302 of the Indian Penal Code.

And In the matter of: Sujit Dey Bhowmik ....Petitioner Mr. Kumar Santanu, Ms. Nikita Paul ...for the petitioner Mr. Kallol Acharjee, Mr. Kallol Nag ...for the State The petitioner prays for grant of bail on the ground of prolonged detention. The petitioner contends that although charge-sheet was submitted almost a year back, charges have not yet been framed.

Learned Advocates for the State produces the case diary. We have considered the post mortem report. We have considered the nature and gravity of the offence, the statements of the witnesses and mode and manner in which the offence was committed, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. The prayer for bail is rejected.

The learned trial court is requested to expedite the trial. The State is directed to cooperate with the trial court for early conclusion of trial.
