Ms. Sukanya Adhikary ..for the petitioner Mr. Subir Kumar Saha Mr. Kumar Shantanu ..for the State The petitioner seeks admission to National Medical College based on his rank in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate), 2024.

It is undisputed that all rounds of counseling have concluded, and the petitioner was unable to secure a seat through the said counseling process.

Mr. Sunit Kr. Roy, learned advocate, has been requested to appear in this matter on behalf of National Medical Commission. Accordingly, his appointment shall be regularised by National Medical Commission. A copy of the writ petition shall also be served upon Mr. Sunit Kr. Roy.

Mr. Roy submits that the Hon'ble Supreme Court has extended the last date for admission until December 30, 2024, and no admissions can be made beyond the cut-off date fixed by the Court.

However, the petitioner submits that an application seeking a further extension of the last date for admission is pending before the Hon'ble Supreme Court.

In view of the above, this writ petition is disposed of with the observation that, should the Supreme Court extend the last date for admission, the petitioner shall be permitted to participate in the counseling process in accordance with the law.

Accordingly, WPA 2623 of 2024 is disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities. (Kausik Chanda, J.)
